This is a beautiful iris vase, about 7 and 1/2" tall. I honestly don't know which is front or back but both sides are beautiful. I was fortunate enough to buy if from Mr. Lee Call who found my name in the International Nippon Collector's Club a few years ago. This is the vase in Ms. Van Patten's "Fifth Series" book on page 240. The little blue leaf is about 1/4". What's remarkable is the gold on the handles and along the top rim is barely worn. But given the present economy I'm pretty sure the present value is nowhere near that mentioned in the book.
I have to say I wish he hadn't put small price tags on his pieces. I bought three vases, all beautiful. But after seeing photos of his collection I wish I had bought more.
Darn, I have to remember to make my photos a bit smaller so they fit the square!

Idcloisonne, not offended at all. I am learning so much about Noritake. When I was little it was THE dinnerware to have. I even have a piece of Nippon with "Noritake" written in the backstamp. Fake backstamps are getting better and better. There's no doubt that my vase is early Nippon since the leaf dates back to 1890 (so far, any fake leaf stamps look really bad). And I just noticed a mark used on Nippon in the Collectors emblem! Consider this your good deed of the day: having me check the site and seeing that. And Noritake is now on my list for yard sales and antiques shops.
