This is one of the first vases we bought to Dorita, our favorite dealer and friend, she presented it as French, but you know here everything that is very art nouveau is from France. Since then I search in internet for something similar, but this piece is very "peculiar" let’s say rare. It has in the base five feet that are iridescent like and early carnival glass that contrast with the heavy gilt top that was modeled so that resemble the contour of the base. The gold of the top is underline by a yellow cartouche line. There are enameled cherries that appear from the golden foliage that are translucent like the green and the burgundy objects that I do not know what represents. It is 21 cm tall and between 3 and 4 cm width. I do not have a clear idea of the origin but surely it was done before the first great war and perhaps is Harrach (http://www.madforglass.com/Harrach/Harrach_Sep.2012-020b.html) or Heckert because I have pieces from both and the enamel is more similar to some Harrach pieces but the nice iridescence of the base is verey similar to a Heckert piece I have. When today I saw a very similar blank (http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/122662-early-rocket-shaped-mould-blown-and-hot#comment-585750) I felt very glad.
Wow! Beautiful enamelling. This is a body double for the base of my first (plain, undecorated, simple rim).
They all seem to include a controlled bubble in the base - perhaps as part of the way they were manufactured?
I have no idea thanks for replying Ian. Nice weekend.
Wow, this is amazing! Just love it!
You know Alfredo, it is possibly here there are several Kralik glasses, I do not remember why I descarded the possibility, but I believe it was because of the decor with el decorado con manga para torta, as you call it. Sure the blank could be Kralik and decorated by a little artisan.
Harrach definitely made those kind of feet as well. I've seen it in the design books.
Thanks greatsnowyowl
