Famous Circus sideshow performers cdv

Known as the "Wild Men of Borneo", these two brothers were famous sideshow performers of the mid and late 19th century.

They were actually raised in Ohio. For their size they possessed a great deal of strength and regularly lifted heavy objects/ people and amazed crowds with their wrestling abilities.

In the 1880s they became a part of P.T. Barnum's traveling circus.

This particular image is an early view of the pair and dates from AUG 1864- JUL 1866 (Revenue Stamp). Image was photographed by E.R. Gard of Chicago and carries his backmark.
