Sorry I missed the first go around. Love it. I find the photos of the "working man" so interesting. Tools, what they wore etc. My Mom collects these old photos if involves a butcher or knife sharpening. Long story but she has some great ones. I will see if I can post some.
      Have a great day Scott!

Thanks for looking and commenting amber.

I think these occupationals are more true to the late 19th early 20th century life. I too prefer them over the traditional studio "dress up" shot.

I don't think this was advertisement-- there is no company name on the photograph.

Occupational photographs were very popular in 19th and early 20th century photography. Probably just a case of the owner wanting to memorialize his business and workers.

I have seen many of these "business" photos from this time period and it is a common practice today.

Most owners must have been (and are) willing to accept a short down time to photograph their business or workers.

I don't know if the workers were still on the clock.

Many are done with no intent to self promote or advertise.

Without any business name visible, this probably falls into that category.

Occupationals are a favorite of mine as well.

If you have the time, take a look at my other listings-- pretty sure that I have another occupational or two posted.

I have seen this a few times and I always thought that I had posted a "Love it" -- but looking at the listing I see that I missed it. This "working man" photo is fabulous!
