I have seen quite a few of these on here, but I just thought I would throw mine in. This is another item my father brought back from WW II. As you can see, it is in rather good condition, needs a little surface work.
Thank you for looking

LOVE IT !!!!!!!!
Thank you very much BELLIN68, yes, lots of history.
Thank you also kerry10456 & musikchoo , appreciate it!
I am fairly sure it is a Krag bayonet!
Scott
Yes it is for the Krag rifle, this particular bayonet manufactured in 1909. The rifle was obsolete by WWII, but I've seen cut down Krag bayonets and told they were used as combat knives in WWII.
My favorite Krag rifle connection to WWII, however, is the one you can sometimes spot SGT Schultz holding in old Hogans Heroes TV shows :)
Dated 1902.
Scott
Chrisnp you crack me up...love Hogans Heros!
This is very nice piece packrat!
Thanks Scott. I'd blame my fat fingers except the 2 & 9 are at opposite ends of the keyboard.
Thank you very much Chrisnp & scottvez for the info, your expertise is always appreciated.
