Added a hard-to-find item to my collection last week, this 30's ice bowl. I went outside my comfort zone (a.k.a. eBay BIN) by participating in a live on-line auction event to acquire this piece. I've long been on the look out for the bowl, so the listing caught my eye. I was a little surprised to bring it home for a fraction of book value (took it with just 3 bids). The bowl does have a 2" closed crack and slight chip, which probably explains low interest (fracture=fraction). Still, the damage is hardly noticeable and I'm more than happy to provide a home for this sweetie. I plan to "borrow" yet another outstanding idea from one of my friends here at CW by filling it with fake ice and 6 vintage bottles of Delicious and Refreshing for display.

Very cool piece Dave, nice buy!!
Nice. I'm "green" with envy. I've never seen these sell for less than $600 and usually for $750. I'm always amazed at the amount of quality promotional products that The Coca-Cola Company produced. And how many of them have survived.
Thanks for the kind words Gents! I agree, the cool factor and diversity of Coca-Cola ad products make for a fun collecting experience. I think of myself primarily as a Sign Guy, but I find the other stuff is just as enjoyable to acquire and display. I dare say when I was high bidder on the bowl, I felt a lot like the collector who bought The Scream yesterday... well sorta... without the "I'm Obscenely Rich" afterglow. Other than that, very similar! :)
You should "scream". That's a great piece buddy!!
Thanks Tom. I think I've previously assumed the same pose as that ?dude? in The Scream after making a few questionable purchases. A silent scream... n-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!!!!
AHHHH..... you know, it's win some.....lose some. And the winners are definitely winners!!!
Great item! I like how you have it displayed.
Of course it will look better once you take the Morphy sticker off of it.
Thanks Trev, just took it out of the box for the pics. I may leave it on that table until I find the ice and bottles.
Thanks Spriteboy for the tip. See, this is why I love CW, so much to learn. I'm going to go take all the stickers off my stuff right now! :)
PARTY AT DAVE'S HOUSE!! Sweet find Dave.
Make sure you remove the sticker on the bottom that says "Made In Japan."
Man, you guys are GOOD!!!
...and welcome any time, Perry, you know it.
Seen it has a Morphy's auction sticker on it. That place is right up the road from me. Their auctions always have high quality items. Very cool bowl!!
Thanks spriteboy42! That was my first Morphy buy, it was a good experience. Nice hearing from you. I keep looking for more of those amazing finds you score. Hope to see more soon.
hey daddy nobucks this is bottleman i was thinking of getting rid of my 12 pack sign i know its rare but what do you think is a fare price i should ask if you can help thanks
Hey bottle-man, Depends on how you want to sell it. On a regular bid eBay auction, I'd start it at $999 and hope a couple rich collectors battle it out. If a "buy it now", I'd probably list it at $1499. If a private deal or "buy it now or best offer", I'd ask $2000 as a starting point. Short story, based on my experience: 12ers like yours are going for between 1-2 grand these days ("mint" maybe a little higher).
Very sound pricing for that sign. I wish the money tree hadn't wilted this week!!!
I'm still kicking around that time-share idea Tom! :)
I'll see if I can stir up some overtime, I am the foreman after all....... hehehehe
