A few weeks ago I posted another taller Minerva vase. At the beginning of the month I headed for the Collector's Fair on the dullest day of the year: Dad's Day aka Father's Day. Most of my regular vendors were at home being feted or perhaps they were feting their loved ones! After four hours of walking around the fair I finally gave up and headed home. In a final desperate effort to spend a penny or two I got off the bus and went into Vinnies. In Sydney the Vinnies thrift shops open on Sundays!
And voilà!
There it was, the other Minerva was on a high shelf awaiting me! It was slightly more expensive than the other one bought at another Vinnies ten kilometres away some months earlier!
I went home happy, ....... finally!
My matching Minerva had me mixing my metaphors!
The early bird catches the worm, sometimes and all good things come to those who wait. Self evident truths!
Minerva is less seen here in Australia, Avena seems to be more common. It was produced from 1976 until 1999. It has the TW signature to one edge of the square foot, but it has been really difficult to photograph. You really have to search it out.
I've put it together with the taller Minerva 2755.
There are some smaller dishes as well in this series.
Height: 17 cm or 6.7 inches
Width: 10 cm or 3.9 inches
The vase seems to pick up on background colour and transport it onto the 'ice/bark' surface.

Many thanks KatyaP. Still use the Ultima Thule myself. Niva is my favorite though!
Very Nice. I love the thickness in the glass. Its so much more demensional when its thicker than the everyday stuff we're used to using. You have some great and intriguing collections yourself Vete, I'll check more out later when I can read all the information about them. Im not just addicted to the glass, Its just as much an addiction hunting information and trying to identify something that is totally new and a mystery at first... thanks again for the nice words.
