This is the pair that I got today....to prove that this is indeed a Loetz Rainbow. Thank you Warren and Alisa for opening mine and other Loetz collectors eyes to, the beauty of Rainbow line of Loetz.
This is a good example of a Loetz Cased Rainbow Glass. This pair stands 11.25" tall x 5.25" wide. What I find interesting is that the first thought is that the rim was cut. As others thought that, the rim should be fire polished going along with the perfectly polished pontil. Instead what I found during researching ....was that the rim is original and the remnant's of the gold gilding or enamel is still barely visible...but there. To show that not all rims made by Loetz was fire polished as thought previously. As, to most popular belief ..that all perfectly executed and polished pontil's are Loetz. And as further researched by Warren, Alisa, Alfredo and the wonderful team on CW and FB.....Rindskopfs and Kraliks and other Bohemian glass makers finished off there fine vases with polished pontils.
The third picture is for example only and found on the internet proving my point that the rim is original. As with this picture you can see the gold enameling intact...as it should have been on my pair.
*Warren and Alisa and Marty ..many thanks for all your help and guidance.*
And YES Dave Peterson...these beauties do light up under UV Black Light!!!
Thank you to everyone who, helped in the research and continuation of the study of the Early Loetz documentation. Its those wonderful Collectors in search of the truth ...thank you!!!
Will have another with more pictures of the vases..pontil..
I also wanted to apologize for any typos and spelling errors as I was so excited to post this pair.
