    A friend gave this to me several years ago . Any information on such a picture would be helpful. It looks as if it has never been removed from the frame .

      Well, he is wearing the wrong colour uniform. LOL!!

      Looks to be a later copy image of a Civil War soldier.

      Probably a New York soldier-- the jacket is consistent with an early war NY jacket with shoulder tabs and the buckle lettering looks like it may be "SNY".
