I found this on Craigslist and picked it up today for 60 dollars, some lady in Fort Wayne was selling because she needed the room. It seems to be a Jenny Lind type trunk with five iron bands, brass covered nail heads, curved top and bottom and seven slats but with a bit of a dome top to it. The leather covering is in pretty good shape but has a lot of wear in some places and someone painted it on the sides. It measures 27 inches long by 16 inches wide and 16 inches high. I don't really need another project but I was pretty tickled to get it since I'd never seen a Jenny Lind with a dome to it and it's in pretty good shape. I can just see myself on that TV show Hoarders in about ten years, either that or my kids will be sorting through a garage full of trunks when I kick the bucket.

WOW -- really love the shape and style of this one Fatboy64. Its not really a Jenny Lind but it is of the same era and craftsmanship -- looking forward to what others say about it. Keep picking these up and the kids will not have a problem with the clean up after your kids "intervention" LOL...

Wow FatBoy!! You did well on finding this one. All of the leather is intact and looking really beautiful. These are my favorite type of trunk, but it's a rare thing to find the leather trunks in this condition. This is a true treasure for sure!!
It very reminiscent of one that I posted about a year ago. It has the same type of embossing. http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/141014-mid-1800s-leather-covered-trunk

A wonderful leather bound, Iron banded, staved traveling trunk. The shape is not one that you see very often. What makes that curved top so interesting to me is the use of a "strong back" support on the inside lid.Few manufacturers used this technique. Much luck and thanks for the post.

Thanks for the comments and the loves folks, especially the educational stuff. I figured from the look of it that I had some kind of Jenny Lind. Learn something new all the time in here.
