I have had this for many years. I love the painting. Would like to find out any information possible. I have been unable to read the signature. The painting measures 11 1/2" X 6" unframed. With the gilded wood frame it measures 15" X 10" in diameter.

Why is the backing paper all ripped off?
I had purchased the painting as found in the photos.
beautiful painting!! and the frame is perfect for it. i'd start by looking at signatures of European artists whose signature began with 'Mi...'. that should narrow it down alot.
where do you think it's a painting of? Morocco? Spain? Mexico?
Spain perhaps. I thought maybe Italy.
even better would be to search for 'Orientalist painter' with a signature beginning with 'Mi...'.
I thought 'Miceli' .... perhaps Palermo with the Duomo in the background?
