    This was my aunt's 21st birthday gift from her parents in 1944. The family lived in Sydney Australia. A jeweller told me that the stone is a ruby-faced garnet. The stone measures 13 X 10 mm and the setting. 35 x. 10 mm. The setting is some kind of gold. There is an inscription on the bale, but I can't read it.

      I think this one is for either Jewels1900 or kiwipaul. I would hazard a guess and say it is the school of Rhoda Wager or Australian Art and crafts. Lovely piece, it would be nice if you could add more photos. :-)
