Hi, I am just wondering if anyone can tell me any information about our much loved Carousel Horse. I always wanted a rocking horse as a child and now in my forties my husband came across this and bought it for me as I have and adore horses. All we know is that the previous owner had it for approx. 18 years and we have had it for approx. 2 years. Anything anybody can tell me would be very appreciated as I love to know the history of my real horses and this one is no exception!

Hi! I'm learning as i go about carousel horses, i repeat I'm no expert. Lol
Does your horse have a hollow body? The eyes look painted on and not carved in the wood. The ears lead me to believe that it is not an antique. Most antique ears were kinda carved into the head because the ears would have been knocked off with kids repeatedly holding onto them to climb on board. I can't tell from the picture but does the mane flow on one side (romance side) or both? No matter what, your horse is special and beautiful! I can truly appreciate another horse enthusiast ! :) Thank you for sharing

The first link is to the article right below your post. The second link is from that article, a website called "National Carousel Association. From their menu I picked the one with information about the carvers who made carousel horses.

If you don't find anything useful there, (maybe you can contact them, send them a photo of your horse and ask for information?), I'm sure if you do a google search on old carousel horses you'll find other resources.
