It just happened to be windy today, and not hot, made me think of Fall, and what could be so much of a Fall color as Copper. So I thought I'd put together a small Collection of Copper. I don't collect copper, I just gravitate to it! LOL :^D Funny, but this is just a small part, but a very nice part of the copper that I have NOT A COLLECTION! ! :^o
I don't know too much about the copper that I have, if it's not marked, and I can't find one that looks like it, I'm lost. I do know that the pieces that I have are made from the 1880s-1980s, I don't think older, or newer...but I could be wrong. Some are factory made, hand hammered, or cast, like the inkwell that I wish I knew more about. I did sell a piece of Roycroft, a (spaceship bowl), what it's been called,(not Spaceship but Flying Saucer Bowl) (corrected LOL), I shouldn't have, but I bought it at the Flea Market for $3. and it sold on Ebay for over $300. I still have pics. of it maybe I'll post it for you. Some of my pieces were badly dented or tarnished green, I tried to bring them back the best I could, and keep the patina, if they needed it to look right, a wooden drumstick works for me to take out dents, rubbing or pressing where needed, maybe a tap with a hammer, on tough ones. I like the large bread/cake/pudding mold, kind art deco looking and a recent buy. I'm cheap(ask anyone at the Flea), and seldom pay over $20., normal is $5. or under, but still try to get the best I can find. :^) Other pieces in the pictures are, plate, tip tray/with a dog on it, tidbit, bowls, baskets, vases, bird bookend, candle holder, bed warmer, cup/stein, a souvenir cowboy hat, and tiny kettle, and a silent butler.
If there's anything that you would like to see better, let me know and I'll post it separate later, with more info. if I have it.

The four tier black wood stand, I don't know if it's old or just a remake, but I like it a lot. The green flower tile and wood backsplash is English, Minton's China Works, Stoke on Trent. The reed baskets(looked good with the copper) may be Inuit, but don't know enough about them, to be sure. The small wood table is from China I think, again antique/or made to look old, I don't know, but still a nice piece.

I hope you enjoyed this display. I'll try to put some other things together in the future. Aluminum, Couroc of Monterey, U.S. and other Pottery, Glass, Pewter mugs/steins, Knives, Let me know, I even have a lot of Hawaiian Shirts, might be fun to see! ! ! B^)

Thank you so much Thomas! :^) This was fun to put together, I didn't have to dig to far, to get these. A rare thing! LOL My wife got up, and got excited to see it put together too. No telling what I could find if I was to dig deep! I might try some other time.

Let's see - you got a Roycroft "spaceship" bowl for $3 and a Quezal bowl for another $3. Man, I want to go to your swap meet!
    3. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 8 years ago
It's true artfoot! lol but I go every weekend at 6AM and sometimes dig through boxes in the dark, to find the treasure. :^) It's harder these days to catch an unsuspecting seller, or to out search the smartphones, but a smart eye does the job faster then a smartphone, at times. :^o The buys that I've seen, from some of people that shop at the Concord, Flea Market, are amazing, and I guess I might be one of them, on the cheaper side. lol

You know Oroyoroyisthatyourhorse, I couldn't find a mark, or one like it in the book, but it doesn't mean it isn't. The grapes seem to be silver, but not sure about that either. I think I found it at a thrift shop, and I know it was a good buy. :^)

Oh! Oroyoroyisthatyourhorse, I see what you were talking about, on the facebook page. The copper and silver mug is very close, but I just checked my vase out closely, and first what look like grapes in the picture, look almost like a hops bud or leaves, second, on the bottom of the vase is part of a red and silver metallic paper label that reads ***cinto and under that is ***OCA, I can't read what's before the letters, and stamped very small(only 1/4") into the copper bottom, the word, SERRAHIMA , so not Roycroft ! Sorry :^(

I used to pull wonderful things from the old Sausalito swap meet - sounds like Concord has become the replacement. Good work.

Well I don't know about that artfoot! :^) but every once in a while, you find, or hear about a nice find. It's always fun to walk, and swap, stories, with Flea Market friends, then try to beat them to the next "buy of the day"!

All this talk, and I realized it's not "Spaceship", it's a Roycroft Copper "Flying Saucer" Bowl! LOL

Very nice non-collection :). I love the bird on the top shelf.

    14. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 7 years ago
Thank you so much Mrstyndall, I do too! It's a nice Art Deco looking bookend, but makes a nice paperweight, as a single, or just on a shelf! :^)
I had fun putting this together, and now that it looks like we might get a few dry days(not complaining, we need the rain), maybe I'll put together, something different! :^D
