About 2 months ago, I posted a stone carving, pencil holder, by a Master Engraver named, Domingos Joaquim.
Domingos Joaquim was a master engraver and was employed as an in-house hand engraver for the Smith & Wesson gun manufacturing company from the years, 1978 to1982. He engraved many firearms for the company during his employment at S&W, but he only engraved one pair of handcuffs which Smith & Wesson also manufactures.
The letter of authenticity states, that “these Model 926 Airweight handcuffs with serial number 000730 were engraved for a Police Detective in the Springfield, MA. Police Department. The handcuff layout & design was completed by S&W Master Engraver Domingos Joaquim. The design illustrated a jail house break-out with a naked lady in waiting. Once the detective saw the finished work, he decided they were too expensive and were not appropriate for his line of work.”
This work of art was done in 1980. After the detective decided not to purchase them, a then, long time employee purchased them & kept them in his personal collection until recently, when I acquired them from him.
The letter of authenticity also states, that to his knowledge, this is the only pair of S&W handcuffs that have been engraved by a S&W Master Engraver.
The “naked lady” was one of Domingos Joaquim’s signature.
Thanks for stopping in to check out one of my treasures,
