I've never seen one of these before and just found it today. i believe that it's from the 1920s and there are art deco influences here as well as the arts and crafts movement. i think it was made as a tourist item in Egypt in the 1920s - almost one hundred years ago. what do you think?

this piece is 52 inches long.
i take it back. i think this piece is a lot older than the 1920s. more like the 1830s or 1880s.
either the 1880s or 1920s. there is a lot of conflicting info about these out there. i can't find a comprehensive study, but a lot of appreciation for them.
i just added some better pics.
these are from the 1920s there was a vast curiosity of Egyptian culture after Carters discovery of the tomb of Thutankhamun
There were several waves of 'Egyptmania' in Europe and the USA. The first one was in the 1840/50s. I think that this particular one is earlier - 1860s or so.
Definitely not before Tutankhamun was found. Twenties to 1950's is likely, In the early 1800's the pieces made were extra finely made and also 1860's they were nice but still better than this. They are very likely 1950's as by now I have seen others also. There are a lot of others like me who collect Egyptomania !~
Thank you Phil. I'm sure that you are correct.
