Recently acquired some wire at a flea market....147 piece collection for $50. One of the pieces had cut out stars, and one had actual cocklebur. I’m new to this so I have no clue what the identity of most of these are.

Great find, and a Very Good start to a Collection Hobby. There are allot of museums dedicated to barbed wire, so you should have no trouble with info, if not by a member here at CW. The thing i like about wire collection, with over 500 patents, and another 2300 or so hand made bootleg wire by farmers, is the fact that you also get to incorporate with all the barbed wire tools, of which i own many of myself. Welcome to CW

Is the cocklebur from a plant or is it made of metal? The top one is a homemade wire with several different patents all in one.

Thank you for your comments. The cockelbur is actual plant material. Thank must’ve taken quite some time gathering all those and then weaving them into the lengths of wire.
