I just found this in one of my Mom's old beaded handbags. She has been gone now over 10 years, being she had a talent for hiding things as she aged, I am still going through things that belonged to her. She loved antiques, art, jewelry, crystal, and so many other things
Since she was such an avid collector, I take my time making sure she hasn't hidden any of her treasures in old bandaid boxes, coat pockets, etc. If I close my eyes I can recall the night she wore this, she had on a beautiful long black chiffon gown with a white and gold shawl and used the brooch to secure the shawl to the dress. My parents were heading to Lincoln Center to see Madame Butterfly. She looked so beautiful that night. I love how a beautiful piece of jewelry can bring back such a magnificent memory.
What a beautiful brooch. Such detail and attitude. Enjoy the search and all the memories it brings. Love it!
Your Mum sounds like she was a style queen!
Lovely memories, love the brooch. The face!!
Beautiful KJL!
Knew it when I saw it! There is no mistaking his pieces, especially his older ones. Can we see the back? I want to say this is a 60’s piece but maybe 80’s? The hallmark will tell. Your Mother had excellent taste and we would love to see more! And if I hadn’t said it before... WELCOME TO CW!
Stunning KJL dragon, fabulous family memento
Thank you all for your beautiful comments. My Mom was one in a million, and she did have very eclectic taste and knowledge that exceeded anything I had ever seen, especially since back in the '60s to 80's everything she learned about vintage pieces she had read in books. I will definitely take a picture of the back and post later this week. And thank you all for making this journey down memory lane so much fun!
