Some more Plaques Molds from Foundry Auction years ago. Names would be added to 2 of them the one in the middle is like a ribbon????
Any idea about that one???

Middle is a GAR ribbon, Grand Army of the Republic.
The GAR plaque is most likely a grave marker for a veteran.
At least three of my ancestors were GAR members. One was very active in the organization. He was the last them to die in 1931 in his 90s.

My ancestor who died in 1931 had the last name Bastian, and the Bastian Brothers of Rochester, NY made many types of GAR medals. No relation to my great grandfather, as far as I am aware, though.
Middle represents the entire GAR badge.
Not a grave marker-- the standard GAR grave marker is a larger star shaped emblem with attachments on the back. It resembles the "drop" from the badge, with changes to the design over the years of use.

Are all grave markers standard or are there different varieties? I'd like to know what is was used for. Is it cast Iron?
They are bronze Congcu There are different styles!!! Police Fire Railroad workers etc.

I have a photo collection of the some of the veteran's graves here in Holden, MA. with their markers. We attach American flags to them on the various Veteran holidays. I just took some last weekend as it was Patriot's Day here on Monday. A unique Massachusetts occasion.Our burial ground goes back to the early 1700's so we have veteran's graves starting with the Revolution. As a result, I am quite familiar with the Bronze varieties. Let me know if you would like to see the photos.

and try to imagine who and what their stories were!!! Peaceful!!!! and will be joining them one of these days!!!
