I just added these to my collection! A question for the tile collectors. What do you use to remove the 100 year old cement from the back of your tiles?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I’d try letting them soak in white vinegar for a few days. Should loosen some of the mortar enough for you to gently remove it with a scraper. Follow it with an equally long soak in tap or distilled water, so your grapes don’t smell like vinegar.

thank you for the info! Here is what I did: I put a shallow amount of muriatic acid in a plastic container and placed the tiles mortor down into the acid. This dissolved the mortor quickly turning the acid into a orange gel. I replaced the acid 3 times to dissolve all of the cement. Then placed the tiles in a solution of baking soda and water to neutralize. Do not attempt this without the proper protective equipment!
