This is a red ITT 554 wall telephone and along with 2 red ITT 500s 1 of which is posted here, are used for the Christmas season and are put into service during that time.

That looks like the 'dark red' color they made then -- all the more funner that it is otherwise intact! Is that also an otherwise clear plastic hookswitch on it -- that'd make it even a more rare survivor of an oh so brief point in telephony history...??
still have my black one like this & still use it when we lose power....
