From today's monthly antiques fair, this small vase caught my eye with its understated elegance.
Sadly, the rarely seen shade of opaque mauve "milk glass" did not photograph so well...in real life this is a soft mauve, slightly deeper inside. Here it looks powder blue.
The vase is made from a single layer of opaque mauve glass, the simple cylindrical form having three small integrally moulded feet.
It measures 10 cm tall, 5.5 cm across the top rim, & 5 cm across the base. The vase is highlighted with very finely detailed gilded decoration of medallions hanging from chains, as well as touches of gilding on the feet & top rim.
Pretty sure this is Bohemian.
My second find from the fair, another fine piece of Victoriana, will be posted tomorrow...
Lovely! The embossed decoration makes it "modern" in a way. Nice find!

It's a little different from what I usually go for, but it just "spoke" to me. I've always wanted an example of opaque mauve glass because it seems quite uncommon.
