Most of you would know that I have a liking for oddball glass items, things that are a bit different, & this is no exception.
I'd come across an interesting photograph of three glass novelties - a hatchet & two hammers. I was pretty taken with them, so much so that I'm currently working on a drawing based on the photograph. More importantly, I decided that I had to obtain an example of such an item. A quick eBay search turned up a nice variety of glass hatchets, tomahawks, hammers & gavels.
This small claw hammer came to me from a seller in England (a rare overseas purchase). It is made from clear glass, obviously handmade as the handle is slightly uneven. It measures around 14 cm in length. Most likely made in England. I am uncertain of the exact age but I think it's possibly 19th century.
I think what intrigues me most about an item like this is its paradoxical quality - if it was used for its implied purpose, the result would be its own destruction. Which is why I've titled my drawing "Anxious Objects".
I really like your thoughts on these pieces, Marin. The name ‘Anxious Objects’ is really perfect for them. Love the hammer!

IMHO, "Anxious Objects" is a more than brilliant term for a glass hammer, and/or any other object such as you describe to us...howzabout a big glass 'nail' to go with it?? ;-) ;-) :-) :-)

The first "anxious object" I ever got was a glass sword, back in 1996. Always wiliing to welcome some more if I happen upon them...

Marin, I don't have one, haven't looked for one, and can't even say I recall ever seeing one, but otherwise still want to suggest looking for 'swizzle sticks' (stirrers) meant for cocktails, that might, maybe, be findable things in the form of a 'big glass nail', that you could use for inspiration if nothing else...??
