Picked this printing telegraph system thrifting because it was too cool to pass up. I've done some research but can't find this exact one anywhere. The patent tells a lot but stumped as to whether it requires other pieces. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Interesting piece. It appears to be part of a larger machine. Google had a lot of information and images..

      That is the distributor mechanism
If you can provide a front view of the electrical CONTACTS I can probably find the manual for that particular one I have quite the collection.
      Note:
This "Distributes the incoming electrical signal" to the electromagnets in the printer. This is just one component of a larger assembly. the whole system takes up a very large desk or workbench. Distributor, Whetstone Relay, Meters, Printer, Keyboard the thing is huge.
The person that kept this part probably did so because the motor twirls the two sets of contacts and "Looks cool" like a whirligig even in the 30's people kept cool tech!!
      Good Find!!
