    Hello everyone!!
Rounding off my bronze horse sculpture posts is this bronze thoroughbred sculpture. This one is so very realistic. It was sculpted by French artist Antoine-Louis Barye sometime in the early to mid-19th century (another reproduction of course). This one measures 11" tall, 11" long and weighs nearly 12lbs!

Here's a bit of history of the artist. Antoine-Louis Barye (24 September 1795 – 25 June 1875) was a Romantic French sculptor most famous for his work as an animalier, a sculptor of animals. His son and student was the known sculptor Alfred Barye. Born in Paris, France, Barye began his career as a goldsmith, like many sculptors of the Romantic Period. He first worked under his father Pierre, and around 1810 worked under the sculptor Martin-Guillaume Biennais, who was a goldsmith to Napoleon.

Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!
    Scott

Another fantastic piece Scott. This one is my favorite. My property backs up to a neighbor's pasture. I feed the horse(Mr. Watson) and two goat sisters(Thelma & Louise) carrots.

Another master artist! Wow, these are so incredible!
I have always loved horses. When we moved to See Canyon, I was 11. Every young girl wants a horse. There was a horse in the pasture by our house. I wanted to keep him. The owner took him away and my Father planted 600 apple trees. I was heartbroken!

Scott, there's. Bayre on eBay of a horse and jockey! Really cool! Check it out! Is that a fair price ?

Hmmm, I see lots of them. How do you tell if it's a reproduction besides the price? Can one get "lucky"?

      Thanks Eileen!!
We never had horses when I was a kid, but we did have a pair of mules and some ponies. I grew up on a farm in a very big farming community and there were several kids that had ponies in the neighborhood.
I bought most of my horse sculptures as brand new pieces still in their original packing. So, that's how I know they're reproductions. Some are priced reasonably and others are off the charts expensive. I always wait until a seller is desperate to get rid of a piece or if they have a 50% off sale. Either way, I still end up having to pay a few hundred dollars each for these bronze sculptures.
