This is a large graniteware or enamelware basin. Officially graniteware is a speckled finish but it is now used for any enamelware that is not a solid color. This one has an uncommon brown and white finish with solid white on the inside. The normal colors one sees are blue and white.
This may have been on a chuckwagon but more likely a home that did not have 100% indoor plumbing. Perhaps used in the kitchen or bath.
My bathroom is full so I may make it a cat bed which the cats will never use.
