This bell belonged to the "Main Street School" here in our little town and was built in 1903 and torn down in 1969-70.
it was then placed in the front yard of the last school building in town until it closed last year.
The school board decided to take the bell to the high school in another town and that didn't sit well with me so I reached out to them AND the public to express their dislike of ,not only our school being closed but our relic being taken to someplace that it would get lost and forgotten and be unappreciated!
So they contacted me back and told me if I could find a good home for it,they would return it.I tried to buy but...lol
I decided the safest place would be our beautiful Carnegie public library, and after meeting with their board it was all set!
I was able to get the excavation for the new foundation and the cost of the concrete donated from awesome people in our area but I (along with my dad) poured the concrete, restored the bell and plaque and placed it BACK ON MAIN STREET ! for all alumni to appreciate.

Nice job. You are saving history for the future. You should consider getting the town to do an annual ceremony or remembrance so it stays in the spotlight. And find out if they can dedicate a small budget for maintenance and upkeep.

What a moving story of community pride and commitment to historic preservation! It's inspiring to see how you rallied support to return the Main Street School bell to its rightful place on Main Street. Your efforts to find a new home for the bell in the Carnegie Public Library, and working together to restore it and place it on its new foundation, truly demonstrate the spirit of your city. I will remind about this at https://assignmentpay.com/. Thank you for ensuring that this cherished relic remains a symbol of pride and connection for all the alumni who treasure it.
