When I bid on this vase last week on eBay AU, I don’t think I fully understood just how big it was going to be! It isn’t the tallest piece of Rindskopf glass in my collection, but definitely the widest.
The vase is made from cased custard opaline glass with a uranium content that glows green under UV light. The outer casing has a pulled loop decor in light orange with an iridescent satin finish. The seller hadn’t mentioned the uranium content but I could tell by the slightly greenish custard tone that it was there.
It measures around 16 cm tall, 7.4 cm across the cut top rim, 12.5 cm across the base, & a massive 68 cm around the widest section.
There is an issue with the condition, a small hole has been drilled into the base (perhaps someone tried to convert to a lamp base), but thankfully it doesn’t show on display.
Bohemian origin, made by Rindskopf, circa 1900.

Unfortunately, that's probably exactly what happened. :-(
I'm 'guilty' of that behavior myself, although in my case it was a new ceramic teapot, not an antique vase.
Must be a fair bit of uranium in it as the photos outside show the green but the last one inside there is no sign of it.
Many thanks, keramikos!
Thanks also, Bernard! Yes, this has a big glow under the UV & as you noted, it has a greenish look in sunlight. Under the cool light in my studio it’s not so noticeable. I’ve become quite fond of taking both indoor & outdoor photos because glass can vary so much between different lighting sources.
