Luck has smiled upon me once more in the hunt for glass. I had a look around a few of my local op shops as I try to do most days, & was rewarded with this pristine & gorgeous piece of Peach Blow glass, a type which until now had eluded me. This fine specimen cost me a mere $5. Bargains are still out there to be had! You just have to be persistent.
This small vase is made from two layers of cased glass, shaded pink to red over a custard interior, which has a uranium content & glows green under UV light. There is raised gilt decoration of blossoming branches.
It measures 9.5 cm tall, 5 cm across the top rim, & 4.5 cm across the base, which has a polished out pontil mark (currently covered by the price sticker!)
I have a book on Peach Blow glass, bought years ago, I guess in hope I’d find some one day. Pieces like this one are attributed to Thomas Webb & Sons in it. This type of decor was made by various manufacturers in the USA, UK, & Europe.
Circa 1880s, in perfect condition.

Beautiful vase, love it under the uv.
Beautiful!!
But your giving away your sources :)
