These seats were made from the mid 1860's to the very early 1900's. After the early 1900s the "tin" seat came into existence and became attached to a spring that softened the ride. Most names go with a implement manufacturer but names sometimes were of the selling agency. I painted all these myself as repainting is desired and not frowned upon in the hobby as 99 & 9/10% of the time rust has removed any remnants of original paint. I have found them everywhere from auctions to farm yards and have had many leads from friends.

Hi... The original Jones seats are nice to have but be aware that they have been reproduced. Thanks for the comment... Ell

Love your collection. I don't collect seats but do have a couple or four. I recently picked up an Acme Duane H. Nash implement seat. Kinda like yours but it has Acme across the top. Thanks for posting.

Hi..I first clean the seat of any dirt and then spray with whatever oil base color I choose. I then do the lettering and/or design with an accent color. Have added
about 100 more seat since those photos were taken. Enjoy the fun.
