  1. Yea somehow I knew you would say something like that. I do know what other agenda you have going on. That's the difference.
  2. Thanks pcdocstl06!
  3. canyonroad The Navajo only make rugs or do they make blankets and rugs? I know this isn't rocket science, but I also know the games people play and I don't appreciate when people elect to cause t...
  4. Thanks vetraio50! I'll see if I can find something about it. Thanks
  5. Thanks canyon road for the info and the nice link. The link was to a Navajo rug repair and they talk exclusively about rugs. We both determined that this is definitely not a rug. Do you know of any ot...
  6. Good info Thanks!
  7. Peasejean55, Yes I see what you mean. There is a curious presence to this young girl. Thanks
  8. TubeAmp, they're the right size for a placemat. Thanks.
  9. Thanks!
  10. Thanks canyonroad for your input, You sure sound like you know what you are talking about. After doing a little research I have to disagree with your synopsis as compelling as it was. It looks to me ...
  11. I have something that looks like that and I know it was made out of some kind of bark. I thought it was birch bark but I may be wrong. I'll take some pictures and post them so hopefully I can get some...
  12. Valentino97, thanks for the XO!
  13. Elisabethan, This is fine keep them coming! I still haven't found the name G. Madalena and I didn't see the one vintagefran was looking for either. Thanks
  14. Thanks Valentino, It's just that it's so big. If I put it under the bed my cat will make confetti out of it. I'll probably just have it framed and be done with it. Thanks
  15. Thanks Virginia. Very nice.
  16. CanyonRoad, Read what Vermont wrote comments #3,4. I think the young girl looks Navajo, but the vest looks Sioux to me. As I said it's just a guess. Thanks for your input.
  17. Thanks surfdub66.
  18. Thanks Vintagefran.
  19. Vintagefran, Yes it is open to interpretation, but how could any true Native American really be happy, and not be angry or bitter? Even though this is a very young girl she is still a product of her...
  20. Scott, The picture postcard on your page of an elderly Sioux woman looks like a proud native American. The outfit looks like Sioux to me, but I'm not convinced that it's a match.
  21. Scott, With all due respect, I think Vermont got this one right when he said, "A little girl, most likely posses against her will wearing what the artist pulled of the rack...most likely a mix." She ...
  22. Thanks Virginia!!
  23. Vermont, I will check out that book. Are you knowledgeable in American Indian clothing and art? I have a couple of breast plates one of them is Sioux, but I don't know where or how to research them. ...
  24. Vermont, Thanks for the information, and I agree with your contempt for the exploitation and even the genocide occurred in this country. I couldn't have said better myself!
  25. Scott, It has about a hundred little nails holding the picture in place. If they come out easy I'll take it apart tomorrow and post the back side. I have a good size book of american indian art I'll ...
  26. Thanks Elisabethan, I'll give it a try. I just went to a site and found out that Jemez is the name of a Pueblo Indian tribe , and there's an Isleta Pueblo Indian tribe that also makes those storytell...
  27. Thanks Elisabethan, I just found out that the Jemez pottery is from New Mexico from one of Vintagefran's links. I've been looking at this style of pottery all day and it is very beautiful.
  28. Thanks Virginia!
  29. Vintagefran, Your last link is great! Thanks Virginia, Thanks for your help too.
  30. Thanks Virginia, I guess it's a sangria pitcher.
  31. Thanks Virginia!
  32. Vintagefran, Take a look at this ebay page. About half way down you'll see two Jemez pieces that have the name Toledo attached to them. One of them is very nice! http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...
  33. Thanks Sean!
  34. Thanks ho2culcha! I just looked up Toledo pottery, and I believe you are right. You solved this mystery. Thanks!
  35. Vintagefran, You're welcome! I have absolutely no idea. Most of the stuff that I have was inherited and there's a little bit of everything which makes it even harder to sort through all of this stuff...
  36. Thanks Sean!
  37. Scott, The scrapbook is in somewhat of a delicate state the pages are separated from the binding on the front side. There's nothing written in this scrapbook at all so there's no information about wh...
  38. Virginia, Thanks! I'm glade that you like it.
  39. Thanks Photoguy and aghcollect, I'll try to research the company as you suggest.
  40. I guess it is an advertisement. Because both of the captions are talk about stove blacking.
  41. Photoguy, the stove polish one looks like it's a comic strip. Look at the picture in the group photos. The stove and the characters and the stove are the same but, the colors are different.
  42. Thanks pops52!
  43. Photoguy, Thanks! The album is 100% Black Americana. I'm sure you would know better than me about it being unusual.
  44. Shareurpassion, Thanks! There's absolutely nothing written on these cards that I can see.
  45. I have no idea what it is, but I like it. I don't think it is maple. It looks more like chestnut.
  46. Thanks racer4four!
  47. Roy, The seated woman does look a bit like whoopi.
  48. ozmarty. Thanks!
  49. ozmarty, Some look like a comic strip. So it must be a collection of Black Americana stereotype and prejudice as you suggested. There's quite a few pictures in that scrapbook. Thanks
  50. Phil, I think I could repair it if I could find the parts. The motor for the turntable is bound up and the radio probably just needs a tube because the volume works but there's no static. Just a hum...
