Royal titles?
"Royal commemoratives" are a collecting area in itself and a postcard theme. But in this case it is a card commemorating the death of a Belgian Prince: S.A.R. Monseigneur le Comte de Flandre.
S.A.R. is the French term for H.R.H.
Son Altesse Royale (in the plural Leurs Altesses Royales : LL. AA. RR.)
The card was collected by Septimus and Clara Miller in 1907 while on tour in Belgium a year and a half after the death of S.A.R. Monseigneur le Comte de Flandre. Why this card?
Look at those eyes! They are the same eyes of Queen Victoria of England! The two are actually related by blood. Who was S.A.R. Monseigneur le Comte de Flandre?
He was born Philippe Eugène Ferdinand Marie Clément Baudouin Léopold Georges de Belgique, duc de Saxe, prince de Saxe-Cobourg et Gotha, comte de Flandre. Saxe-Cobourg-Gotha on March 2, 1837!
His father's sister was the mother of Queen Victoria.
His father was King Leopold I of Belgium.
His elder brother was King Leopold II of Belgium.
His son was Albert I King of Belgium.
His grandson was Leopold III King of Belgium
His great - grandson was Baudoin King of Belgium
Another great - grandson was Albert II King of Belgium.
His great great- grandson is the current King Of Belgium, King Philippe.
He was connected!
He was profoundly deaf.
He was incredibly wealthy.
He was a bit of a recluse and a family man.
The French put it succinctly like this: Arrière-petit-fils, petit-fils, fils, frère et père, grand-père et arrière-grand-père de rois, il ne le fut jamais.
In fact he was offered a kingdom or two (Greece and Brazil) but refused them!
He died on November 17, 1905.

Hello, a year ago I posted a French ship named Flandre? First ship after WW-2, any connection with this ocean liner? Probably no but!?

I just checked out the liner Flandre. It was named after "historic Flanders". This guy had the title of Comte de Flandre. Up until the time of the French Revolution in 1792 the Comte de Flandre was the ruler of the area. Since 1840 it ha been the title given to the younger son of the King of Belgium.
