This is my grandad, there is one photo were he is wearing his First World War uniform, and one were he his suited and booted.
I always think about these young soldiers, what they went through on both sides, it must have been a absolutely horrendous experience.
He was wounded twice and gassed, he lived with his injuries for the rest of his life.

Thanks you Sean, PatSea, walksoftly and antiquerose for your comments. I can only vaguely remember my Grandad, apparently has a toddler I lost all of his First World War medals by putting them down a concrete path, not good. I know where they are to this day but first it's not our house anymore plus we would have to tear up the path.

Yes, they look very smart. Their mothers or their wives laundered their clothes! It ment status in their society.

Yes I agree , looking apart does have a nice ring to it.

Your Grandfather was evidently a true soldier to the core. It's great that these photos have survived and can be passed on down to the next generation along with his story.

Many thanks jscotto, I can't remember him very well, I was only 5 when he died, the photos are the only thing I have of him. It's only when you get older you realise you want to know more about the generations that have passed, I know I do.
