I have a thing for vintage plastic jewelry. I usually only wear my bangles in the summer because in the winter these big pieces bother too much with sweaters and jackets.

This bangle looked really sad when I got it. I washed it with mild soap and water first. After cleaning it, I polished it with toothpaste. Most of the little scratches disappeared but I need to work on it a bit more.

    Thanks for looking:)

Very nice! How do you repair your plastic jewelry?

Nice! Love the confetti and facets. I didn't know about the toothpaste trick. I usually don't buy if a bracelet is scratched up - unless it's really cheap. And, yes I try to buff the scratches out. Novus 1,2,3 is a good product and on really cheap plastics I don't care so much about I use my auto polishes. I save simichrome for my better items. Repairing plastic is another routine. I clean, including razor-blading off old glue - carefully!! - items down to their original condition as much as possible. Then I use best jewelry glue like e3000 or 6000 to re-glue pieces. It doesn't always work. Sometimes you have to start all over and clean that off. I haven't figured out a good clear coat to apply afterwards on plastics.... Lentilka every repair is a unique project. :-)

Mary, thanks for your tips on repair. I have made many mistakes before and now I am more careful. I clued rhinestones with Crazy Clue: What a disaster!
Silver polish and toothpaste works well on cheap pieces. I also have refinished plastic and silver with a nail buffer. I am not sure how you call that thingy; it can be used to polish you nails. It is better and smoother than sandpaper. But I only use this technique on jewelry that otherwise would be trash.

I don't touch the better pieces because I hope that I will learn more as I go along:)
