Like most Japanese glass companies Kitaichi have a long history and make a wide variety of glass. These three objects are typical of their moulded glass pieces, with their twisted ribs, hand worked lips, and handles.

The amber vase is a lovely pot bellied shape and a good size for flowers at 22cm. You can see on it one of Kitaichi's stickers, showing the head and shoulders of a man, in a big hat, and holding a bowl.
The red pitcher is a shape I have seen here in Australia but whether the ones I have seen here were by Kitaichi I am not sure. It has a typically Japanese shaped foot, lovely flared pouring lip and nicely made handle. It is 23cm.
The blue vase is a big girl at 28cm, and with her hands on hips handles she's got some attitude.

I have posted some Kitaichi before on CW; this post gives some history of the company:

Love the cobalt blue one Karen ...especially for it's form as well as the color. Red is my favorite color most of the time but the shape on the blue one ticks all the boxes for me. Can't get too excited about the gold one though...lol :)

I like the amber vase, Karen, and have no difficulty in being told it's Japanese. On the other hand the red and the blue seem to me to have a flavour of Italy.....but what do I know.....
Lovely photos......showcase the shapes beautifully :)

      p.s. I'm wasn't suggesting they actually are Italian :)

Thanks BJC. I believe the red one is actually a stuck up princess.

Wrythen; that's the word I don't remember. It's very cool. Thanks Malkey!

You are correct Peggy, the Italians also did this style. They are similar but the foot usually gives the Japanese away. I must find one to do an in hand comparo.
      Thanks for the comment(s)!
