A few weeks ago at the Flea Market a seller was putting out their things to sell, and as I was walking by I noticed several people digging through one of the boxes, and I saw that there was jewelry, and other smalls in the box.
I waited until the others had gone, to see what they had left behind, if anything, at all. There was some broken costume jewelry, chains, cheap watches, and what looked like foreign coins, but when I looked closer, I saw an Indian Head Penny, so started digging a little deeper, and noticed that the flaps in the bottom of the cardboard box, were raised up a little, from some of the things caught under it, so I held one side down, and tipped the box toward it, with the other flap raised, and reversed, to get everything, from under the flaps without dumping the box, on the ground, and these are the things I found, that the other people, hadn't seen! There are 4 silver dollar sized President commemorative coins, Thomas Jefferson, Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, and F.D. Roosevelt, I don't know anything about them, but not silver, as is the 1875S Trade Dollar, all attracted by a magnet. 3 nickels, one "V" nickel 1899, and two Buffalo, a 1923S, and 1929D, 2 Indian Head Pennies 1889, 1893, 5 foreign coins a 1951, and 1959 sixpence, 1953 one shilling, a 1919B 20 Helvetica, and one nickel sized coin that I can't figure out. Also a Heads and Tails penny sized brass coin, that uses a naked woman front and back, and reads nightclub 'capri' on the front, and Mazatlán Sinaloa on the back. A small enameled brooch, and small silver ring marked (su) 925.
I only paid $5. for all, and the 1923S Buffalo Nickel is worth at least 3 times that! So not a bad find, for what others thought junk. :^D
One thing is, always be careful, when digging through boxes, because of sharp objects, broken glass, or spiders. Its probably a good idea to wear gloves, if you can't see where you're digging!
Thanks for looking, all questions, comments, or information, welcome! :^)
