Terra Cotta pot with a lid. I wonder if it was for storing hot ashes.
The hat on the little head looks european.

It 'looks' a little small for be storing hot ashes? I can see a small spout in the middle at the bottom. So, a pot or some kind of liquid.
One pic just isn't going to do it. I'm not saying more pictures will help, but may give me pix to look at every morning to laugh at. LOL ! Let's see some more of this strange thing.
I agree with BB2, even though it hurts to say so :). Need more pics to to even make a wild guess. How big is this "thing"? It's bizarre looking, but it's a good bizarre, don't get me wrong.
I see the iron next to it which gives me an idea of how large it is and it is larger than people may think. Looks large enough to use for ashes although I do not know if that is what it is for.
It looks like a very eccentric tea pot which there is a beautiful book about !~

Looks like a copper metal pot with lid and handle, with green oxidation, very old, and painted with enamels and gilt. Asian of some kind, one of the less well known cultures in a smalle country. My guess.
Can't anyone see the spout? (Sigh)

Gillian, if that's a flat iron by the side for reference, wouldn't this be a big tea pot? Maybe a kettle.
OK -- I'll try a guess too?! (given the title says it is made of terra-cotta pottery, and presuming that's a typical flat iron for size reference) Gillian -- it looks more to me like its 'spout' might be the small triangular part ('bird beak'?) right under its 'hat' -- not the round protrusion at its lower center. (belly?) Also looks like it would *not* be easy or convenient to actually pick it up (so to pour a liquid out) given the odd rear location of its 'handle' and large removable lid. HOWEVER, the rear handle and large rounded 'legs' at front make me wonder if it might be meant to be simply "tipped" forward (on the round legs) in order to dispense a liquid from within. (while also retaining anything like ice or fruit or other 'solids' that might also be in there?)
I am going to guess an incense burner of some kind, and probably Middle East or Asia
