Picked this up at the yard sale where I got the toys I posted. It's a Westinghouse 16SD3 three speed oscillating fan made from '55-'58. I cleaned it up a little and it works great. Relatively quiet for the massive amount of airflow it produces. I'd like to do a full restore eventually. We had this fan or one similar above the blackboard in the elementary schools around here. The house is near an old elementary school and they've remodeled upgraded the schools several times, maybe this was picked up scrap. I remember those unbearable hot humid days in school where I would wait for the oscillating fan to make its path to temporarily relieve me from my agony with its life restoring hurricane force wind, then back to sweating.

Westinghouse made great fans. They were top of the line along with GE.

I agree, both made some long lasting reliable stuff.
