    1979 Japanese Decorative Plate

This is one of the few items from mom's estate that I kept. A friend at work(Chinese), always told me stories about how his father was a dragon dancer. Apparently the ritual is very demanding and requires much training. This plate reminds me of his stories.

Sorry..after looking at the pictures, I realize the plate needs some wiping down.

    FUKAGAWA PORCELAIN MFG CO
Chuji Fukagawa founded a studio that provides from manufacturing clay to red painting on ceramics in 1894. We started to export works to Europe after we participated in Paris Exposition and got the honorary gold medal in 1900. In 1910, our studio was designated as the purveyors to the Imperial Household Agency. Our main store's building and many objects on display at the museum have been designated properties of the Heritage of Industrial Modernization. The pieces on display in the museum on the second floor demonstrate the techniques. The showroom on the first floor includes the Milano Collection and pottery provided by the Imperial Household Agency.

hahaha this is one of the Warabe No Haiku, it is used to engage an perception of the purity by means of the Gakudo ( children )
actually it got a status of a dragon dance it has the meaning that even Gakudo,s could cope all the problems in life in a frolicsome way ( dragons are an metafhor for problems)

actually its a kakieman origin the copy design is shiro umi , which means white sea , as you can see the background of the plate is all white
