This 2"L squirrel brooch has a large red oval rhinestone body, with comma shaped crystal stones for its tail, two white rhinestone ears & one red eye, on goldtone. By Scitarelli aka M & S Mfg Co of Providence RI ca the 1950s

He's awesome- his tail and body reminds me a bit of a rooster/cockerel too.
Bright red/cerise is a lovely autumnal colour, and you do see lots of squirrels around this time of year so he's very seasonal

I think of all the wild animals around the neighborhood the squirrel is happiest and certainly the busiest at this time of year
Lol Searching, I know, how about that tail & how in the world did they make those 'comma' stones for it! And they even prong set the little red eye, that is so cool right. This was a surprise find from Scitarelli, a small jewelry co I introduced on this site, and this is the only animal figural I have ever seen by them so was very lucky to come by it. One of the reasons I always liked small vintage costume jewelers is that they are big on individuality & usually don't borrow from the famous designers, and this little fellow is a daringly different example. I love the squirrel so much, lie the one on Sponge Bob, but he is missing the underwater gear. Lots of prongs to hold in the stone beauties. Magnifico !~
