Most collectors are familiar with that odd phenomenon where you find an item you’ve never seen before, then soon afterwards, you see another one. That happened to me with these two unusual vases. Not quite a pair, but certainly related.
Both are made from a thick layer of cobalt blue glass with an intense iridescent finish & a Pampas type decor. The shape is the same, though there is a size difference, the shorter vase measuring 13.5 cm tall, & the taller one 16.5 cm tall. The shape is one I haven’t seen before in any decor. The shorter vase presents a more bluish shade overall, while the taller one has a mostly purple appearance. Both have cut & polished top rims, & the bases lack pontil marks.
The shorter vase was purchased as part of a two item job lot on eBay AU, the other item being a yellow/green vase with an “Abstract Flower” decor (you’ll see it posted on CW shortly). The bigger version was found on Etsy from an Australian seller about a week after the first one arrived.
I know a few makers did a Pampas decor. I am wondering if this is the Rindskopf version. Or maybe Kralik. Has anyone seen this shape?
Bohemian origin, circa 1900.

Those are really beautiful!!
