    This box is a mystery to meIt seems to be all hand wrought metal over brass.There are etchings of sea life creatures on the brass sectionsThere are crabs lobsters jelly fish ect.Im guessing it might be a jewelry casket box of some sort .It weighs 6 pounds empty and is 8 inches long and maybe 5 inches tall.

      Interesting & makes one wonder the actual use. The French
      coffer may sound better than "casket" & we won't mention that coffer is the source of the word, coffin. LOL !!

      very cool. It looks like it might have contained a bottle (from the impression in the lining in the picture but that could just be the angle).
