Hello fellow collectors!!
While vacationing in Tennessee recently, we visited several antique shops and malls and found a few treasures to bring back home with us. Here's one of those treasures.
It's a leather drawstring collar bag from the 1920 period. It was filled with collars (15 collars total). The linen collars were severely discolored, but I was able to clean and press those particular collars and bring them back to their original condition, as you can see in pic #2. The newest collars are dated 1921 and the others are a bit older than that.
Most of these old collar bags have deteriorated and have not survived, but when I spotted this one I knew I could recover it and bring it back to life. It cleaned up and restored quite nicely. Even the original leather tassels have survived and those are most always missing from these old collar bags. The silk lining has deteriorated long ago and been removed, but, other than that, it's still in very nice condition.
Hope you enjoy and thanks very much for stopping in to have a look!!!
