This is another new arrival, also acquired in a trade, but from a different, generous glass friend. It is white spatter on a pretty pink ground, cased in clear glass. The other three in this shape are known Welz spatter décors on a white ground, cased in clear glass.

This is the one that set me thinking, as I said in my first post on the subject. Though I have other mini hex vases in this shape, and some of them in décors from an earlier period, this is the first one to have a gilded rim.

So I'm asking myself, why would this one be different? A gilded rim adds another stage in the production process, and an additional cost, so why do it in the Art Deco period when styles had moved on. In fact these are the only gilded rims I have on any Welz Art Deco shapes.

As I said in my previous post, in the case of the yellow mini hex, MAYBE some were made earlier than others.

Finally as I said at the outset, a definite conclusion wouldn't be possible, but when you notice anomalies you do wonder.......
