    Good day everyone,
Pictured above is a Tissot Seastar automatic wrist watch CHs Tissot & Fils calibre 783 21 jewel without the calender. The first calibre was the 781 manual wind no calender 1959. Followed by the 782 manual with calender then the pictured above 783 ( 785 later 783 model ) automatic no calender. Next 784 ( 786 ) automatic with calender. 787 manual 24 hour with date. 788 ( 798 ) automatic 24 hr. date.
791 manual no date no second hand. 792 manual date no second. 793 manual day, date, no second. 794 automatic, day. 796 automatic, date.
884 same as 784-2 but with nylon bearing. 894 like 794 but with nylon bearing. These numbers tell you a lot when you open the back of one of these Tissot watches and are good at identifying if the parts are original.
This is not the original strap of the watch pictured here. I was lucky to find it with it's original box minus the warranty. It runs very good and will get a complete cleaning and original watch strap one day. Tissot is a great watch with an interesting history. Swiss movements.

A brief history of the Tissot watch company. Wikipedia

Chs Tissot & Fils was founded in Le Locle, in the Jura region of Switzerland in 1853 by the locally born & bred father-son duo of Charles-Félicien Tissot and Charles-Émile Tissot. As with most Swiss watch companies founded in that era, Tissot began life as a comptoir, an assembler of parts procured from individual makers in the region. In that first year, the company delivered between 1100 and 1200 watches to the region around Le Locle.

Tissot merged with the Omega watch making family in 1930 and Tissot-Omega watches from this era are sought after by collectors.

Tissot watches have been worn by Sarah Bernhardt, singer Carmen Miranda, Elvis Presley, Grace Kelly, Banassim Kassim and Nelson Mandela. James Stewart wore a Tissot watch in Rear Window. Indian actor Kamal Hassan wore a Tissot watch in the Tamil Movie "Dasavatharam". Deepika Padukone is brand ambassador in India since 2007. T-Touch watches have been worn by Angelina Jolie in the movies Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

I like the black face and gold colored numbers on this watch. The case back is stainless steel. Case number is 43502/44502 2x
    The movement is: 5266498

Tissot does make quality watches Roy. Both the old and new are great. The newer models are out of my price range though:) Would be nice to find a Tissot/Omega from the 30's.

Thank you akrodog I have a few other older automatics. I just did a little reading on the Vostok watches and their rugged design.
