I think this is probably Czech, but can't be sure. I have a marked one on it's way which may be of help. This will need a gallery to suit the standard UK pendant fitting, so probably European.

There are three motifs around the shade with minor differences between them, so probably hand painted.

The rim is of a type that would accommodate hanging beads. When bought it had a textile fringe which was obviously a replacement, or an addition, so had to be removed.

Image three is from the inside looking out.

    Diameter 25 cm./10 inches

I find it quite amazing the effort put into these hand painted items, and I wonder what price point they came in when bought. Do you have any idea Peggy? We're these considered an expensive item or ,middle class wares?

The only information I have came from Jericho, comment 16 on this earlier post.

My guess would be that as businesses they would try to offer goods at various price points. I only collect ones with scenery but even those have varying amounts of brushwork.

I imagine the wealthy would have had chandeliers......necessary for larger rooms!

Loving all your lampshades! My husband and I have this penchant for lighting and we have long since run out of room. Our basement has a tiffany style lamp on every rafter. I just picked up two gorgeous purple Murano glass table lamps, just need to build a room for them!..lol

Thank you, Tahiti, these are just a sideline for me but it's nice to have shades not found in lighting shops! I checked your posts but found no shades, perhaps you should consider sharing them with us all.......
