This Harrach vase, decorated in an moresque style, was possibly shown in the 'Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of all Nations' in 1851 in London in the celebrated Crystal Palace. A similarly décorated beaker exhibited there is part of a set of Harrach vases published in an exclusive album by M.D. Wyatt, London 1851 is shown in foto 4.. The lower part of my vase, enlarged in foto 3, shows a comparable shape and décor as the beaker. Jan Mergl writes in 'From Neuwelt to the Whole World, 300 Years of Harrach Glass' at page 150 'Although the authentic objects featured in the image have not survived ...', nevertheless I was lucky, to collect a nearly intact item from this period. The complex sixfold cut vase is décorated by attached cut hobnails and a finely painted guilded moresque décor similar to the 'Alhambra' vases exhibited in London, too. My vase stands H=27 D=12 cm.

      Hi vetraio50,
it must have been a vase, as there is no indication of grinding to accept a stopper. Your link to the article on Alhambra vases is highly welcomed.
