This 3 1-4"H x 3 3-4"W opal ware (a type of milk glass) dresser box is at least 100 yrs old, as it was made by the CF Monroe Co of Meriden CT, who were only in business between 1892-1916. The lid shows a transfer image of a violin-playing cherub, & the pink floral design is hand painted. These boxes were satin lined on inside top & bottom, only the top remains on this one. Monroe also produced vases, plates and tableware, the lines were called Wave Crest, Kelva and Nakara.
This box was my mother's whose birthday was May 31st, so Mom this post is for you with love
