I do rather like cuff links...they come in so many interesting designs, & often feature art glass. Here are a few of mine. I even wear them from time to time when I get all dolled up! :-)
The first pair was a recent purchase - & they are set with saphirets, which is a rare type of art glass used in jewellery in the late Victorian - Art Nouveau - Art Deco eras. Saphiret glass shows two colours at once - a deep brick red & a bright blue & it contains gold, which creates the special effect. Saphirets are very sought after & expensive so I jumped at the chance to get these, as they were pretty reasonable in price. I did wait just over two months for them to arrive, but they were well worth the wait!
These were sold as being either cuff links or shirt studs. Uncertain of exact age but they look quite old...perhaps late Victorian. No markings on them that I can detect.
The second pair are from the 1950s - 1960s era & are set with square aventurine glass cabochons. Aventurine is made using copper inclusions, & is often seen in art glass items from Murano & Bohemia. I have some other vintage pieces set with aventurine such as brooches & pendants. I just love the colour of it - that deep reddish brown combined with fine glitter.
The third pair are made with vintage glass "evil eye" charms from Czechoslovakia that have been set into modern fittings. These appealed to me for their weirdness factor. Glass eyes in any shape or form are fascinating...

      Many thanks, Jenni!
I too love saphirets, & hope to find more examples of this magical art glass "stone", & hopefully at reasonable prices, though! It is also difficult to capture the true beauty of it in a photo...they look so much more stunning in real life...

I'm happy for you these lovelies turned up eventually.
Those eyes are intense and cool, and don't be offended if I say you will wear them wonderfully!

      Many thanks, my friend!
Yes, it was good to get those saphirets at last...& as for the eyes...no offense taken at all! They are right up my alley!
I've added a pic of me wearing some cuff links - the eyes, I believe, although hard to tell as this was cropped from a larger image. Yes, I am bearing two drinks - so my other half could take the snap... :-)
