We have had one that has a makers tag Carpeles Hartmann & Co. So, wondering if this trunk is by the same maker? Or other?
I appreciate any input from you all. We have been involved with trunk “rescue” so have not dug into their history very deep.

I would say so. Here are a few patent images that may apply. Thanks for the post.

Thank You - We want to include some historical information with trunks we are giving to our grandchildren. You are very helpful -

The C H & CO. is actually Carpeles Heiser & CO. of the Great Western trunk & travel bag manufactures, not Hartman.

There is some information I found on hmsantiques indicating CH&Co changed their name to Carpeles Hartman in 1890. This helps explain the different tag / labels
The gator embossed monitor I posted has a tag of Carpeles Hartmann & Co, so that one should be dated after 1890. And this trunk made prior to 1890.
